Bodhi can also be pronounced "body" giving the name "ENERGY BODHI (BODY) HEALING" a double meaning.
I have been drawn to the imagery, name and meaning behind the Bodhi Leaf since I was a young girl. I grew up exposed to the philosophies and way of life as a Buddhist and have fond memories as a child regularly attending the temple with my family and our friends for cultural/religious celebrations and blessings from the monks.
Prince Siddartha is recognised as the founder and teacher of Buddhism. History states that there was a time that he was meditating under a Bodhi Tree for 7 days when he reached a state of enlightenment and became the Lord Buddha. A shoot of this tree was planted in Anuradhapura (Sri Lanka) about 245 BC. It still flourishes today and is the oldest documented tree in the world.
Hence, the word Bodhi means "enlightenment and spiritual awakening".
Today the Bodhi leaf is a symbol of peace and a reminder that ultimately the potential lives within all of us.
